One Big Happy Family Photography – Covington/Oxford GA

I know that it has been some time since I have had a post up. I have had so much going on and I am in desperate need to organize my time to be more beneficial. . .and efficient.

I am currently starting this blog post in the car on my way home from a family weekend during which I had no internet access. Surprisingly, it was not too painful.

When my cousin contacted me about taking these pictures I thought about how it would be fun to see how this family had grown. The last time I had seen them was when I was still in denial as to my feelings for Spencer. ;)

I tell you what, it takes a great stretch of creativeness to be able to figure out how to pose large/multi families. There is not much instruction like “Just interact and I’ll take pictures.” that could go on.

As they were the last time, the families were getting together for family portraits as a gift for the grandparent’s anniversary. This time they were celebrating the golden fifty.

This is the family image they finally went with to present them at the surprise anniversary party.Cooperhead IMG 5108They also asked me to get a few pictures of the two “lovebirds” together as well. It is so nice to see people who make it to fifty years of marriage. Too many today take marriage so lightly.BruceFamily-5660BruceFamily-5691This one that Spencer took is my favorite of the two of them.BruceFamily-5430Pop and his three boys.BruceFamily-5491Bruce Family 2Bruce FamilyThis is what happens when you get a bunch of kids in front of a camera and are not sure how to direct them. . .BruceFamily-5230. . .so you tell them to throw leaves and click away to capture what may happen. :)Kids in LeavesAll the grandkids and great-grandkids.BruceFamily-5263We had a few sweet moments as well. He is already a “brother”.BruceFamily-5415 By the time I got around to taking pictures of this little guy, he was so tired.BruceFamily-5562 But he still laid on the charm and was quite the cutie. BruceFamily-5569Lilah, who has graced this blog several times in the past, was having a blast being swung in the air by her parents. LilahI will conclude with two of my favorite images of these two gorgeous ladies. BruceFamily-5648BruceFamily-5649I photographed her wedding right at this college campus where we took these family images. The same place I first met Spencer. It was neat having him there with me helping me out and remembering how much has happened since that May in 2003.

I should be back to bring more images to this blog veeerrrrry soon. Much to come. :D

Working Hard rather than Hardly Working. . .

. . . and LOVING what I do.

I cannot convey to you how excited I am to be doing what I do now. I was thinking today about when I worked at a cubicle job 4 months ago and was so thankful that was another lifetime ago.

A little over a year ago, I made the decision to leave a well-paid job in Atlanta to go back to a job that I had formerly quite because I was so miserable there. This new job was closer to home but meant a pay decrease but I was okay with that since I would not have to drive back and forth to Atlanta everyday. It was funny because, at my interview to be rehired, my old supervisor asked me if I had heard about the plans to sell the company and assured me that would not affect my job in any way. Ironically enough, it did.

As sad as I am that the company closing left so many people high and dry, it was like an answer to my prayers and a swift kick in my photography career’s butt.

For the past two weeks, I have been steadily working away at an absolutely unique and amazing wedding I photographed on November 7th that reminds me why I love what I do so much. I was squealing right along with the bride when the wedding music started.

This is something I was working on today. Isn’t she lovely? And her eyes, I did not touch them in post processing at ALL. They are naturally that brilliant.

GreenHayes_9 I seriously need help getting my workflow perfected and organized and then I will be able to post on here in a bit more of an organized fashion. Until then, enjoy the bits and pieces I throw your way and let me know what you think. ;)

Chachachachanges…

Okay, that was supposed to put that annoying David Bowie song into your head. If it did, HAHA and I’m sorry.

So a LOT has been brewing over here a the Morris household.

I have been getting down to the nitty gritty with my amazing bookkeeper/assistant in order to give my business brain a jumpstart and give my clients a much more professional experience.

I am now OFFICIALLY an LLC business!!! Today I am going to start up my new BUSINESS checking account!! So excited!

And…if you have been visiting my site or new galleries on SmugMug you may have noticed a few other small changes in the way things look. As much as I loved the backgrounds I had purchased, especially my owls, from Dreamstime I kept struggling with the fact that they were not exclusively mine. What kind of cinched it for me is when I saw my cute little owl used on an ad for a wonderful product called hooter hiders. (I wish I had had one when I was nursing.)

So that is when I decided to get out Photoshop and play around and create my own little “branding”. Something that I was comfortable with that matched my creativity, craftiness and simplicity. Nothing too busy but fun. Tall order.

Sooooooo. . .what I came up with is what you see below:Pillow goodness green smallerYou would never believe where I came up with the inspiration for this graphic. One day I might share. ;)

I had to keep my owls too. I LOVE my owls. Not even sure why or how that all started. So here is my rendition:Owlie by Hand Flipped

This is Owlie and his twin brother. Owlie has a tendency to be very sleepy, kind of like me, and stays in his own little world most of the time. Owlie’s brother is a lot like my sister, very alert to what is going on.

Owlie by Hand 2::edited to add:: I forgot to tell you this little guy's name is Owliver. ;) Why yes, I am a dork.

So you will be seeing more of these little guys as I get all of my stuff more cohesive and a better reflection of me. :) Hope you like. If so, leave me some love.
